According to her daughter, Hannah Mariko Shofet, Davis succumbed to esophageal cancer. In a poignant video tribute, Davis’ son showcased a series of photos, spanning her childhood, college years at MIT studying civil engineering, and moments as a proud mother of four. He highlighted her cool demeanor and showcased snapshots of their family life, including her older brother, a professional soccer player.

Known for her ‘Cooking with Lynja’ series, Davis initially collaborated with her youngest child, Tim. Although follower growth was gradual initially, a 2021 video featuring a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich went viral on TikTok, catapulting her to fame. Across various platforms, Davis amassed nearly 30 million followers, with 17.8 million on TikTok alone.

Her content showcased extravagant cooking moments, often accompanied by playful interactions with her children. Whether tackling wagyu steaks or enjoying sandwiches with her feet in a kiddie pool, Davis maintained a grandmotherly charm. The alter character “Little Lynja” added humor to the videos, offering admonishments or cooking instructions.

In 2022, Davis received a Streamy Award, recognizing her excellence in online video. Her son fondly referred to her as the “internet’s grandma,” expressing gratitude to her audience for experiencing the wonderful person she was. He concluded the video with heartfelt appreciation, thanking everyone for the enjoyable years of video-making.
